True Access

Vendor credentialing and on-site presence for healthcare. Principal Software Architect, building the engineering team in-house.

The problem

Hospitals have a constant stream of people on site who don't work there — device reps, service techs, contractors — and somebody has to know who is in the building and whether they're licensed and permitted to be where they are. For a long time the answer to that was a sign-in sheet and a lot of trust.

True Access answers it with smart badges and geofencing instead: credentials checked against presence, in the building, as it happens.

What I'm doing

I joined in December 2025 as Principal Software Architect, and there are really two jobs running at the same time.

The first is the engineering. The second is that for the ten years the company had been in business before I arrived, development had only ever been contracted out — so the mandate is to build that capability in-house. The first hire is made and the team is being assembled around the work as it goes.

Why this entry is short

The work itself is live, under contract, and not mine to narrate — so this page is deliberately thin on specifics, and will stay that way while that's true.

I'd rather say that plainly than fill the space with a version vague enough to be publishable. The rest of this site is a fairly detailed record; this entry is the one where the interesting part belongs to somebody else.
